The Japanese forest

Hidden away in Maridalen is a little taste of a Japanese forest.

Suddenly you are no longer surrounded by towering pines and firs with their thick green foliage.

Instead there is a silver birch plantation, with the light streaming down as you explore.

From the size of the trees I would guesstimate that it is 30-50 years old.

As you would imagine it gives off a zen and calming feeling as you explore and pick your way through it. You hear the leaves rustle, you hear the wind swaying the trees and you clearly hear the birdsong. It is simply out quite lovely.

The Japanese forest has been a little difficult to access this Winter, but now with the snow gone I found myself wandering through it, once more struck with awe.

If anyone wants to know the location, please drop me a message. (It would be a shame if other dogwalkers started to use it and we couldn’t take our groups there any longer)
