Wow what a day! Absolutely gorgeous adventure conditions out in the woods.
I was full of energy, up and out early today.
Arriving at my first adventure spot I saw that no one else had been there today. We would be breaking trail and making fresh tracks.
The scenery was spectacularly beautiful with the snow falling as we walked.
I had two dogs attached to me so as to help trek me along.
We bounded through the snow and forest at a lovely pace. Halfway through the walk we arrived at a steep climb and we were flying.
It was deep in places but super light.
Reaching the top of the ridge we had an amazing view down into the Valley.
It was then, struck by the awe, that I took my eye of the ball and allowed myself a momentary daydream.
We were crossing a deep snow field and suddenly due to my momentary lapse in focus my foot disappeared into a tree well, trapping my right leg.
With two dogs attached to me I stood no chance as I was dragged over forwards.
Boom, I went down like a TV thrown out of a hotel window by a Rockstar.
As I was falling my face hit the rock to the left of me. It felt like I was in a boxing ring and I had just been given a good right hook to the left jaw.
The dogs came over to check I was okay as I got back to my feet.
I was fine apart from a bruised ego, a scraped shin and half a mouthful of blood.
It wouldn’t be an adventure if there wasn’t an element of risk and uncertainty.
If you want to be struck by the awe of the nature around you I advise stopping before you look around.
Now get out there and adventure!
