Daddy Daughter Dogter Day

The big 4D! Today he was a pretty special day and not just because the sun was shining and it was a gorgeous 24 C.

Today also marked the first day of solo daddy leave. Now, don’t worry I am only on 30% daddy leave the coming months, and those owners and dogs have long been notified of the change in the groups or days.

Whilst we are on that topic a big thank you to my superb walkers who are already bringing smiles and joy to my usual Monday dogs, integrating them seemlessly into their packs.

But back to this morning and a rather strange feeling to not be rushing out the door. As we waved goodbye to my partner as she headed off for her first day back at work, suddenly it was just the girls and I.

Minttu unfortunately picked up a little injury a few weeks ago and therefore a nice calm long walk with the buggy mid-morning was exactly what she needed.

By the time we eventually rolled back in at home I saw that I had actually managed more steps than after an average first walk with the dogs…. Of course with the dogs I am in undulating terrain not on wide flat gravel pathways.

Daughter asleep, dogter lazing in the sunshine, I thoroughly deserved a good mug of tea.

Roll on the afternoon and it seemed a shame not to be outside soaking up the vitamin d. So the buggy rolled towards Sognsvann where we planned to feed the ducks. Arriving at the lake the excitement of the day had clearly been a bit too much for Anna who was fast asleep. So I walked over with my bag of bread and gave it to a kindergarten class so that the children could enjoy themselves feeding the ducks. Our trip was by no means wasted and I enjoyed the views, as Minttu cooled off in the lake.

Back home via barnehage to pick up Johan, then time to write this very blog and smile at the adventures your dogs have had today.

I hope that you are also smiling.

For someone who always feels in a bit of a hurry I will admit that it has been lovely for once to just take my foot off the gas.
