Before dog walking I worked in a variety of different jobs.
I won’t name names or companies but I was working in Sales and Marketing. It was a fairly small team and we all got along very well.
However one of my lasting memories from this time will always be our Monday morning meetings.
The 10 or so employees would sit around a big table as our boss outlined the strategy for the week.
I’m sure he won’t mind me saying (and I’m sure that he doesn’t read this blog) that he was not a natural leader and not really a people person.
But he tried his best and clearly read a fair few books on leadership, motivation and management. This leads me onto the Management Catchphrase Bingo which the employees would play throughout his talks (unbeknown to him).
My personal favourite was a weekly “we’ve got to hit the ground running this week”.
This phrase is something that I have taken forward with me and evolved into my own style.
So this morning I found myself in a car park, with three happy bouncing dogs, lacing up my running shoes…. Absolutely ready to hit the ground running.
The dogs loved it, i loved it, what more is needed?
