Here is a little story about yesterday.
I had a wonderful first walk in the woods with the dogs and I was feeling full of energy.
Drinking some water as i dropped off and picked up dogs, my stomach started rumbling.
Putting it down to probable dehydration in the warm weather, I decided to drink some more water. Within minutes my stomach was properly cramping. I couldn’t even walk it off when taking the stairs at several clients’ houses. Stretching, bending down and crouching were no use.
I started to think that maybe I hadn’t rinsed out my Hydrapak water pack well enough and the bacteria were teaching me a lesson.
Not to worry I thought, just eat the banana in your van and it will settle your stomach.
This proved to have the complete opposite effect, and within a very short period of time I literally had a dog poo bag on my lap whilst driving in case I had to suddenly throw up.
Having by now picked up three dogs I was not in the mood to give up and call off my afternoon adventure.
Remembering that full fat coke is the best remedy for a hangover, I stopped at the nearest convenience store.
Full fat Coke and a bag of sweets.
Now, I will add to this that I generally eat extremely healthily, don’t drink much alcohol and try to avoid sweets and snacks, but this was a dog adventure which was about to go awry.
I’m happy to report that within 15 minutes of eating the bag of sweets and drinking the full fat coke, my stomach was back to normal and we had a fantastic walk. Energy levels topped up and we had greatfun throughout.
So next time one of your potential adventures is threatened, maybe the solution is the unhealthy option.
No point in giving up before you try all available options.
Sidenote : I’m still completely uncertain as to why it suddenly came about. I even tested my water after I got home just to see if it had been that.
