I love a good podcast.
With spending a good deal of time driving around Oslo I feel it is the perfect opportunity to listen and learn.
Recently I was listening to an interview with the founder of Cobra Beer, Lord Bilimoria.
During this interview he shared his 10 P’s of business. I thought they were good to share, so read on if interested.
I have added in my own three extras at the end
1 and 2. Great Product at the right Price
I feel proud and lucky to say that I believe we offer a fantastic product and great value for money
3. Place
We are extremely fortunate to live Oslo surrounded by so much fantastic nature to adventure in
4. Promotion
We try to share as much of the joy and fun from our adventures, not just with our clients, but to anyone who loves dogs. We try to offer as much transparency as possible to let you join us
5. People
I am fortunate to work with some amazing dogwalkers who share a like-minded philosophy with regards to dogs and life
6. (Ph)Finance
I ensure that I keep a little extra saved away in case of unexpected costs or events, so that it would not affect the daily life of the business, my clients or their dogs
7. Passion
If you are not going to do something with passion and love, I do not see the point in starting.
8. Principles
Get to know yourself and be proud of who you are. Try not to care too much about what others think of you. Remain humble and kind.
9. Partnership
Treat everyone as a partner and your equal. Teamwork and cooperation go a lot further than autonomy and strict rules.
10. Profit
At the end of the day if a business does not make even a small profit it will eventually run out of funds.
And now for my 3 extras
11. (Ph)failure
We only learn through trial and error. When we fail and things do not go exactly to plan it is the perfect opportunity to learn and take that experience going forwards.
12. Patience
Rome was not built in a day. With the ever quickening pace of life and society we must remember that patience is key in building any great thing.
13. Preparation
Prepare as well as you can for the things you know you can control.
In our work that would be keeping fit and healthy, walk preparation, knowing our dogs and their habits and work day time management.
I hope that these 13 P’s (2 of which were slightly cheating) will let you reflect on your own approach to work and life.
