Even the most hardened outdoor enthusiast will admit to having second thoughts when you see the rain outside hammering down.
However the rain should not discourage you in the slightest.
Some of the best adventures and walks are when you get thoroughly soaked.
Of course owning some good waterproof clothing will make the adventure that little bit more pleasant, and less clammy!
But once you have donned the appropriate attire you should head out full steam into the storm.
There is a certain satisfaction in walking in bad weather. You know that 99% of other people will be inside not experiencing nature in it’s raw form.
If you only go out when it is dry that puts severe limitations on your life in a land like Norway.
A dog gives you the perfect excuse for having to head out and brave the elements. Unless you are fond of cleaning up dog wee and poo inside.
Once out and about you will find that after three minutes or so you can’t get much wetter and therefore mentally you seem to just relax and accept whatever is thrown at you.
You start to listen to the rain and watch as large water droplets fall from the edge of the pine needles around you. You are becoming more present in nature. Congratulations.
In summary a walk in the rain is never as bad as you make it out to be in your head before you head out. So just get out there and start enjoying it.
