Are we experiencing the arrival of Spring in Oslo?
It seems ludicrously early to be making such a claim. And yet… Noticeably more daylight in the last week combined with very mild temperatures. Throw in some good sunshine and glorious sunsets.
All of these things to me signify Spring in Oslo.
The birds are also starting to feel convinced, with the song chorus having increased over the last week. Maybe they too are just happy for a bit of sunshine.
We are but 13th February today, however I accomplished both dog walks without any gloves…. And moreover without suffering cold hands despite throwing snowballs.
Now I too have seen the grey forecast for much of the rest of the week. But Spring in Oslo is not purely sunshine as I’m sure everyone has experienced.
The nighttime temperatures, even up by the edge of the woods, are hovering towards the red and plus degrees. And with that the snow and ice are retreating at a rapid pace.
But do not despair there are plenty of snow holes still out there with deep areas as I discovered this morning when my boots filled up with crunchy snow as I sunk upto my knees.
So whilst it might seem a little hasty to call call it Spring in Oslo, let’s just enjoy this lovely little weather pocket we are getting today.
