Friday flashback. No Stress! It is about 7:30 a.m. some indistinct day in February 2010. I am already at the gym in Canary Wharf in London starting a Body Pump workout class.
The workout studio is filled with between 25 and 30 tired looking office workers. This is the half hour we have all managed to carve out of a busy day to sweat.
The workout instructor is a small but toned lady who is both hyperactive and charged up on too much caffeine already. She turns on the music and and it is the same song we start with every Friday. Take a listen if you like.
The rest of the group and I know the routine very well. Weights in hand we start to chant the song out loud:
“No stress! I don’t want to work today.”
Yes it was good feeling to be singing together but the underlying emotion and feeling was that we honestly did not want to go to work that day.
Fast forward 13 years and I regularly play that song on a Friday morning. Not because I do not want to go to work but precisely because I do.
I have swapped the artificial lighting of gyms and offices, for the daylight and freshness of the woods.
It certainly does not mean that running a dog walking business is stress free.
But I think I can summarise with the phrase:
“better a bad day in the woods than a good day in the office”
And today was a great day in the snow-filled woods. Some fresh snow arrived overnight and during the morning. This made for perfect adventure conditions.
Have a great weekend and check out the fun below π Happy Helg!
