Hello and welcome to February. The Light is at the end of the tunnel!
It is a little hard to believe that January has come and gone already in a blur of Adventures.
It seems like New Year’s Eve was literally a few days ago, and that I was hiding up in the woods throughout the night with my dog to avoid the stress of fireworks.
So what is this tunnel and this light of which the title refers?
Well it is no secret that daylight is quite limited during the Winter months here in Oslo. But fear not because in less than 2 weeks time it is bearable.
14th February might for most people mean Valentine’s Day. Yet there is more to love than just your partner and close ones.
14th February is also the first day each year where the sun rises before 8 a.m. and sets after 5 p.m. here in Oslo.
Now I appreciate this is nothing compared to the daylight hours we received during the Summer months. I find that it is the start of the journey away from Seasonal Affective Disorder… And the Winter blues that the darkness can bring.
So hang in there we are but 13 days away. Soon enough you will have the opportunity to cross country ski or or take your post-work walks in daylight.
A fresh smattering of snow yesterday afternoon left the woods looking glorious and untouched once again. Exploring and making fresh tracks whilst avoiding perilous ice underneath today.
It’s certainly was fun out there. Check out the photos below π
